--OOC INFORMATION--
Steam name:
[QVG]Alexander02 (However, I am likely to change it soon)
SteamID:
On a scale of 1 - 10, how active are you?:
8.9/10
Have you had previous experience as a Vortigaunt? If so, explain:
I have had experience as a Vortigaunt on around... 5-6 servers.
Have you ever had any bans on any server? (lying will result in temporary ban from the applications):
I have not.
Why do you want to become a Vortigaunt?:
I wish to become a Vortigaunt because they are very interesting creatures and RPing as one is extremely entertaining, in my opinion. They can also help me improve my RolePlaying in multiple ways, as they have done in the past.
What exactly do you know about Vortigaunts?:I know that Vortigaunts are Humanoid beings from an unknown homeworld and they can manipulate a strange form of energy, known as the Vortessence, that they believe is the fabric of the universe and everything contained within. This allows them to heal, power machinery and, if they are very powerful and have the Antlion Extract, teleport or revive the dead. They also speak English, but tend to use old, often Shakespearean phrases. They also refer to people as "The (name)", such as "The Alyx Vance". Vortigaunts are usually peaceful creatures and will only attack unless provoked, they can be deadly in battle.
Do you have a large vocabulary, and are you familiar with the English language in both spelling and grammar?:
I am indeed familiar with the English language.
Enslaved or Free?:
Free, if I may.

Write a detailed back story for your free Vortigaunt, and how he managed to get into the city (must vary between 6-8 large paragraphs):
Ka’Xan was fairly young, by Vortigaunt standards, when the Nihilanth placed him into a group. The group consisted of 3 adults and 2 children, Ka’Xan included. He excelled at hunting and gathering food, while finding mining crystals too difficult for a Vortigaunt as weak as he was. When he was of substantial age and the Nihilanth realized his strengths, Ka’Xan was moved into a small hunting pack. The hunting pack consisted of 4 Vortigaunts, all of mixed ages and all of them hunted very well. The hunting group were permitted to go further from their “Hive” than others and they had access to better animal bait. Ka’Xan was the youngest one in the group, but wasn’t one of the worst, at least. As he grew older, he began to take an interest in poetry, often spending his spare time taming animals to help him hunt, not unlike Earth’s Canines, or reciting poetry in front of others.
Many years later, the UU began to invade the Vortigaunt home world. They came in small scouting parties at first, checking that the planet was safe for the rest of the UU to land. Ka’Xan was one of the first workers to realize the Combine presence; this gave him time to warn the Nihilanth before they began a full-scale attack. The Nihilanth began to send out his best fighters to eliminate small scouting parties and Ka’Xan, being a weak Vortigaunt, was not presented with this opportunity. Instead, Ka’Xan was tasked with keeping the Nihilanth safe so that they could escape, with many other Vortigaunts like Ka’Xan. Eventually, the Nihilanth, Ka’Xan and the remnants of the fighters reached the portal to the Border World, known as Xen, but not after leaving numerous corpses, both Vortigaunt and Combine, lying in the dirt.
They waited on Xen for many years, waiting for their inevitable deaths at the hands of the Combine. They had accepted their fate and were prepared to die. The Nihilanth, however, did not have the same plans. The Nihilanth immediately ordered the Vortigaunts to explore and harvest on Xen, hoping for the Vortigaunts, himself and his crystals to be safe. Eventually, something shook Xen and a portal formed not too far from where the Nihilanth had set up his hive. After the Nihilanth had determined that this would be the safest course of action, he sent a few Vortigaunts through as a test. Thankfully, the Vortigaunts were not fried, allowing the Nihilanth to send through the rest of the Vortigaunts.
Ka’Xan was one of the last through the portal, and he was greeted with gunfire. Thankfully, many of the other Vortigaunts that had gone in before him were still alive and fighting, allowing Ka’Xan to flee in the chaos. Many other creatures from Xen had escaped with them, the most troublesome one being the Headcrabs. Ka’Xan had to be extremely cautious when turning a corner, as there were bound to be Headcrabs nearby. Ka’Xan was nearly killed by the Headcrabs and their unpleasant hosts, who seemed to be anyone that they could find. It took Ka’Xan many hours to search and find the exit to this maze-like facility. When Ka’Xan finally escaped with some of his brethren, he kept running and running in fear of the Combine, or something worse, following him through the portal.
During the years that passed, Ka’Xan and his brethren found a small shack and had been eating Headcrabs or Earthly creatures, such as Cats or Birds. Sadly, many of his brethren had either left or died of fatal Earthly sicknesses, unknown to Vortikind. Many unwise Vortigaunts and Headcrabs had been causing trouble in nearby settlements, places that Ka’Xan had repeatedly warned them not to go near. During the hard times that passed, Ka’Xan’s schedule mainly consisted of hunting or improving his connection to the Vortessence. All had been quiet until one day, a day different from the rest in unimaginable ways. They came quickly, all it once. They didn’t even bother sending scouting parties, they just attacked. Ka’Xan knew what was happening; he had seen it happen before. He saw the nearby river drain away, being sucked away by thick metal pipes. He saw towns ablaze, people screaming and the Combine shooting down any that ran. Eventually, a Human took it upon himself to surrender the entire Human race to the Combine. The Combine wasted no time to recruit Civil Protection units and erect their cities and walls of dull grey steel.
After countless days of hiding, a loud noise awoke Ka’Xan and there were suddenly armed Humans inside Ka’Xan’s hut. Upon further inspection, these men did not look like the Masked Ones. When questioned, they explained that they were looking for medical supplies for one of their friends and Ka’Xan, knowing that this would allow him to acquire better shelter and protection, offered to heal their friend. They accepted the offer and, after a few hours, Ka’Xan had healed the man and the men had showed Ka’Xan their hideout. Within a few months, Ka’Xan had settled in and had gained the trust of the men and had discovered that they referred to themselves as the “Resistance”. They had also been experimenting with Combine technology and had made a non-functional duplicate of the Shackles and Collar that the Combine had been using to supress captured Vortigaunts.
One day, a passing patrol of Overwatch soldiers discovered the hideout, most likely because of a helicopter that noticed increased activity coming from the hideout. Ka’Xan, thinking quickly, took the non-functional Shackles and Collar and fled during the bloodshed. Thankfully, Ka’Xan managed to escape safely and loosely attach the Shackles and Collar. At least the rebels had made an unlock latch, Ka’Xan feared that the Combine were not as kind. When Ka’Xan saw a passing razor train, he had an amazing idea: he would wait for the perfect moment and grab onto the railing of the train. After multiple failed attempts, he managed to grab the railing and held on tight. Eventually, the train reached a Combine-controlled city, known as City 17. It was infested with Masked Ones, starving citizens and giant, silver towers. Ka’Xan decided that he would try to hop off when he got as far as possible from Combine influence, an area commonly referred to as the “Slums”. So, when he was at a perfect spot, Ka’Xan leapt. Luckily, Ka’Xan landed on some newspaper and cardboard, which softened his fall but he still acquired multiple wounds and injuries. He ran towards the sewers and some say that he still resides in the sewers, even today…
Write a detailed /me of free Vortigaunt roleplay:
Ka'Xan walks over to the table and puts down the small, blood-stained spike.
Ka'Xan begins to quietly chant in Vortigese
Ka'Xan says "Gerr, lung gung, jella gurr!"
**A dim green aura begins to surround Ka'Xan, getting brighter by the minute.
Ka'Xan continues chanting, his voice growing louder and faster, causing the green aura to brighten quicker
Ka'Xan says "Gerr, jella gulanga dew'itt, ah'glaa!"
Ka'Xan places his hands out in front of him, in the clapping position.
**As the aura grows brighter, a small green ball begins to form between the Vortigaunt's hands.
Ka'Xan continues chanting until the ball is bigger than his head
Ka'Xan thrusts his hands out in front of him, towards the red barrel
**As the Vortigaunt thrusts his hands forward, a bright green bolt of electricity zaps the red barrel, causing small pieces of barrel to explode all over the room.
Ka'Xan leans against the wall, panting heavily, as he is greatly exhausted by this use of energy.
Write a detailed /me of free Vortigaunt combat roleplay containing both melee and ranged:
Ka'Xan carefully peeks around the corner and jumps back, seeing a headcrab zombie sniffing around
Ka'Xan begins quietly chanting in Vortigese, causing a dim aura to surround him
Ka'Xan hears the zombie coming closer and begins to speed up
Ka'Xan places his hands in the clapping position, making a small green ball form between them
Ka'Xan turns the corner and thrusts out his hands
**A small green bolt of electricity hits the Zombie, causing it to fall to the floor, paralyzed.
Ka'Xan carefully walks over to the zombie and nudges it with his foot
**The zombie snarls, jerks it's arm and then falls still
Ka'Xan begins to carefully rip off the Headcrab
** The Headcrab's body comes off, but it's legs have been stabbed too deeply into the man's throat and rip off of the torso
Ka'Xan uses his feeding hand to rip out a chunk of headcrab and stuff it into his mouth
Ka'Xan wipes his mouth and tosses the dead headcrab away
Ka'Xan uses his claw to carefully slit the man's throat, in a near-perfectly straight line.
Ka'Xan continues on his stroll, satisfied for the day.
